Beast of the Fallen Dale (5e)
The founders of the village of Thornbriar came to this quiet spot looking for a place to raise sheep and rebuilt their lives after fleeing the destruction of Sessrendale. But now¸ someone or something is snatching their sheep from the surrounding hillsides and leaving bloody messes behind. As your party arrives¸ it's just dawning on the local shepherds that a dangerous predator lurks among them. Is it a band of hobgoblins living on the opposite slope of the hill? Is it the anchoress who lives nearby¸ thought by some to be a powerful warlock even though no one has ever met her? Or is this a cryptozoology mystery¸ with an alpha predator prowling the sparsely populated hills? Thornbriar may need some heroes to save them from this menace. Beast of the Fallen Dale is set in the Forgotten Realms. It places the village of Thornbriar in a quiet spot in the foothills of the western side of the Thunder Peaks¸ near the Dalenlands. For a version of this module that does not specify a particular setting¸ see The Beast of Thornbriar Hills ¸ which is available through DriveThru RPG. Places by the Way is a series of short modules created by veteran RPG writer and developer Douglas Sun for use with Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. Think of them as glittering mosaic tiles that you can drop into a campaign to provide your player characters with diverting side quests and memorable interludes while they follow the overall story arc. After all¸ a great campaign world is one in which memorable experiences can be had even in places found by the way.
