Golem - Ancestry
nhance your ZWEIHANDER Grim & Perilous RPG game with a new Ancestry: the Golem!
Lingering in the forgotten boweries of the world are people who have recently awoken from a strange slumber. Within that is the Golem ‐ an automaton¸ sculpted in the image of another Ancestry. Crafted from inanimate matter by the hands of a true artisan¸ a Golem was a work of art before coming to life. A Golem is no mere sculpture ‐ they have broken free from their immobile form through the Awakening¸ having gained self-locomotion and free will. Instead of blood¸ they teem with Ætheric Fluid while calcified bits of fluid act as lungs¸ brain and heart. A Golem has no parents ‐ they only know their artisan; the one who created them. Upon Awakening¸ the artisan's name are the first words uttered by the Golem.
The Golem's Awakening is a unique event which brought them to life. They may have begun as a waxen simulacrum of a renowned minstrel in a museum¸ a pitcher-bearing statue overlooking a garden pool or an outstretched avatar upon stone dais. However¸ something happened where the statue was placed. A natural event¸ like a tornado or bolt of lightning¸ may have awoken the Golem from slumber. Perhaps a ritualist transferred their own spirit inside the Golem. Whatever the method¸ a Golem has been given a special gift. Unbound by the gods¸ the feeble trappings of mortality or the turn of ages¸ a Golem is alive. They have agency¸ having broken free of the artisan's intention. After Awakening¸ a Golem must make a choice ‐ will they carve out their own destiny¸ or follow in the footsteps of lesser Ancestries? The choice is theirs to be made.
